Our Philosophy

From the first moment we came here, we recognized that we found what we were looking for a long time: a secret spot, far off the main tourist tracks in the wild and unspoiled land of the Cederberg and Karoo. Enjo Nature Farm is a little oasis where you can experience the silence of the elements. Here you can feel the power of nature and get back to the basics in life. Find yourself while relaxing in our self catering cottages and swimming in our spring fed dam, listening to our sheep and gazing at the stars. Explore our land hiking through radical rock formations.

Come out, make some stories and free your mind...

Wupperthal

Just 28 km from Enjo Nature Farm has been a Moravian mission station since 1865 and the little village today is little changed with an old thatched church, a store and neat little cottages lining the main street, making a visit worthwhile. There is an shoe factory where the work is still original and a rooibos tea soap factory with a range of lovely products in their shop. For meals at Lekkerbeckie, the little coffee shop its better to arrange beforehand.

Such a lovely scene as the nature dam starts to fill up again...water is coming! . We let it dry out naturally this summer and used it as an opportunity to carry out some essential maintenance and cleaning. . We found an old phone and a hat as well as a sunken paddle ski, paddles and a few other bits and bobs all safely removed. . Here’s to beautiful clear, crisp water, lovely lazy days on the deck, and the promise that the good days will return soon ❤️ . . . . . . #thepetsseries #shotoniphone #enjonaturefarm #wanderlust #travelphotography #wewilltravelagain #africamovesyou #awesomesouthafrica #besouthafrica #discoversouthafrica #flashesofsouthafrica #foreversouthafrica #instagram_sa #livesouthafrica #minimalsouthafrica #natureza #shotleft #thisissouthafrica #travelsouthafrica #weheartsa #travelikealocalza #placestovisit #discoverctwc #onedaywesterncape

Good morning! Happy Friday!! Something exciting is happening in our valley. For several months, behind the scenes, while our guests have been enjoying themselves at Enjo, conservation work has been underway to help save the endangered Clanwilliam Sandfish right here in our Biedouw river! . The folks at Cape Nature, Freshwater Research Centre, Endangered Wildlife Trust, the Department of Environment and Nature Conservation as well as World Fish Migration Day, have all been working together to make saving these special Sandfish a reality - National Geographic has also got stuck in with their support too. It’s a huge, exciting task. . From day 1 Enjo has been on board with our support and we love being a base for these extraordinary conservationists to work from by accommodating them and their researchers. . Getting to know the team has been a real pleasure, especially for our children, who have an amazing and inspiring front row seat into conservation work and the types of careers this field offers. . There is a documentary underway - the web series, called Saving Sandfish launched on the web yesterday. Episode 1 is now live on YouTube and if you want to know more about this extraordinary conservation project, gather round and have a watch! See if you can recognize Enjo...We certainly can, every mountain, pass and river bend - the scenery and story is wonderful... . To watch Saving Sandfish visit and follow @fishwaterfilms and click the link in their bio. . . . . . #enjonaturefarm #clanwilliam #biedouwvalley #cederberg #savingsandfish #freshwaterresearch #onderbekvis #onedaywesterncape #discoverctwc #stayhomesouthafrica #fishwaterfilms #capenature #natgeo #endangeredwildlifetrust #worldfishmigrationday #insidenatgeo #dreamingofoneday #conservation #southafrica #meetsouthafrica #southafricaconservation #savingsandfish #weskustourism #westerncapetourism #hellocapetown #wildlifedocumentary

Posted @withregram@nadia_safaria I think we’re all craving roadtrips, hiking trails, cosy weekends away with our loved ones and wide open spaces right now.⁣ ⁣ How lucky we are to live in a country brimming with possibilities for all of the above and so much more!⁣ ⁣ I found out about #StayHomeSouthAfrica earlier this week and have been inspired to delve into my travel photo archives and revisit some of my favourite local journeys.⁣ ⁣ Starting with these snaps from the ever-sublime @enjonaturefarm, where we enjoyed a pet-friendly mid-week break two years ago, I’ll be (re)sharing some of my best #proudlysouthafrican adventure memories over the next few weeks.⁣ ⁣ Btw, use #StayHomeSouthAfrica to share good news stories about our beautiful country. There is life after lockdown. There are so many reasons to stay at home - let’s tell everyone! ⁣ ⁣ Visit www.stayhomesouthafrica.org to find out more about the movement.⁣ ⁣ #enjonaturefarm #dreamingofoneday

Biedouw Valley

The beautiful, fertile Biedouw Valley hemmed in by the Biedouw Mountains to the north, and to the south by the Tra-Tra Mountains, just 32 kilometres from Clanwilliam in the Cederberg.

The essence of the Biedouw Valley is captured just after the rains, when it becomes endowed with an array of spring flowers that capture the imagination of many a visitor here. Local farmers restrict their herds from grazing in the valley during the flower season to assist this glory. Yellow-and-white nemesias nestle alongside blue heliophilas, gazanias, mauve senecios and an array of succulent vygies that are enough to take your breath away.

The Cedarberg Mountains and the area around the Biedouw Valley are a joy to explore. Hikes and walks abound and, although very hot during the summer months, the calming and impressive landscape, endless view to the Karoo and beauty of it all lets visitors return.

Follow the sign to Clanwilliam and get petrol at the petrol station which you will see on your left when entering Clanwilliam. Continue straight past the petrol station. After 40 km (past Travellers Rest and Bushmenskloof) turn right onto the gravel road to Biedouw Valley/Wupperthal. After 14 km turn left into the Biedouw Valley and continue for another 11 km.
Watch the gates; you will pass two of them.
